I Heart Magazine Glasgow issue

 

Last November I was contacted by French Magazine I Heart to shoot an editorial for them. This quarterly publication travels to a new city in every issue and last autumn its team came to Scotland for a couple months to work on I Heart Glasgow.

For this editorial, we moved around the city and we visited a few of my favourite photography locations in Glasgow: Barrowland, the concrete buildings of Sighthill, the M8 motorway across the city centre... Despise a horrible weather forecast (foggy and almost no visibility) the night before the shoot, the sun shone during the whole day and we managed to have some amazing light.

A Day in Glasgow - Penelope Joan Gillies

Last month I took some more photographs for my personal series A Day in Glasgow (you can read more about this project here on the blog). This time I met Penelope Joan Gillies and went for a walk around the city's West End. 

When I lived in Glasgow I used to love going to the West End on the weekends and spending the mornings around the Botanic Gardens and Byres Rd. It is still one of my favourite areas in the city and it was great to discover some new places with Penelope.

On another related note, last weekend I shot an editorial in Glasgow for the new issue of I Heart Magazine. I Heart is a French magazine that focuses on a different new city in every issue. The team travelled to Glasgow and asked me to shoot some fashion, and I chose some of my favuorite places in the city as locations. I just collected the photos from the lab yesterday and can't really wait to see them published in the new issue which is out in January!

A Day in Glasgow - Daniel Micah DeWolfe

Here are a few photos from the personal project I talked about a few weeks ago. In "A Day in Glasgow" I'm contacting Glasgow residents I hardly know and asking them to take me to their favourite places in the city, spending the day with them and documenting the whole experience.

For the first part of the series I decided to message Daniel Micah DeWolfe. Daniel is half American, half German and has been living in Glasgow for a year. He's a student at Glasgow School of Art and took me to his favourite haunts, starting in the West End and walking through Argyle Street to get to the city centre.

Peace for Nylon Guys Magazine

A couple of months ago I received an email, just before going to sleep, asking if I wanted to shoot for Nylon - I was really excited even though I didn't know what I was going to shoot.

After a couple of emails, they asked me if I was available on Monday (I think this happened on a Thursday)  to shoot Peace in Glasgow. I work full-time but I had taken the day off because it was my birthday the next day, so luckily enough I was able to say yes.

This was my first band shoot so the day before I was quite nervous, mainly because I wasn't sure how I was gonna direct them and didn't really want to turn it into a fashion shoot. Once I arrived to Glasgow it all went very well, met the band and the guy who was gonna be interviewing them and we all headed to the location I had in mind (some Glaswegian massive buildings, of course). I shot for around 20 minutes and that was it! The guys were playing that night in Glasgow but, living in Edinburgh, I couldn't go (reminder to myself - move back to Glasgow).

The shot and the interview is now out on the May issue of Nylon Guys. There are more pictures at bigger size on my website!

Oblivion pt. XI

It had been a while since the last time I had uploaded photos from my series "Oblivion". I took some of these in Glasgow when we went to see Wild Nothing and the rest have been taken on my way from work to home.

My friend Marta came to visit me in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago. She only stayed for 2 days but I showed her Edinburgh and we also went to Glasgow to see Grizzly Bear at Barrowland -amazing venue, hadn't been inside before but need to go back to do a photoshoot in there. We had dinner at Mono and went for drinks to Nice 'n' Sleazy.

Our hotel room in Glasgow got a little flooded and I was offered a free night stay for another time, which I'm going to use later this month to see Wild Nothing playing at Stereo.

Lazy Oaf A/W 12 x C-Heads Magazine

Around a month ago I collaborated again with stylist Katherine Whyte to shoot an editorial for C-Heads Magazine featuring the new collection of Lazy Oaf.

It was a fun Sunday afternoon shooting at Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow with Misha Palmer @ Model Team.
