Girls on Film 09

I released the new issue of Girls on Film a couple of days ago, it is probably one of my favourites so far and really can't believe that next month I will be editing the 10th issue already!

If you want to submit your work for the new Girls on Film, check these submission guidelines.

Sunday Zine Review #24: Shoreline by Fábio Silva & Carlos C. Pinto

Carlos C. Pinto sent me a copy of Shoreline, a collaborative zine with Fábio Silva. This small publication is a collection of images taken close to the sea, with an special emphasis on textures and light.

Fábio's photos in black and white focus on the shapes of the rocks, sand an other elements on the shoreline, while Carlos uses the light and flora of the space as the main subject for his images.

Shoreline is a beautiful collection of images that really made me miss the sea, although I don't live that far away from it.

If you want to get a copy or find more information about the zine you can do it here.

Sunday Zine Review #23: Not Now - We let you down

Not Now is a design collective based in Manchester and composed of 5 members. The members of this collective are also the interns at OWT Creative, another design collective that publishes a monthly zine which I have reviewed a couple of times before.

The guys at OWT have also started to publish other zines, including the first publication by Not Now. 'We let you down' is a photography zine and an exhibition that opened last Thursday at Cord Bar in Manchester.

Each member of Not Now was given a disposable camera and snapped the streets of Manchester in 24 hours. The zine is the combination of the photographs taken by the members of the collective.

I visited Manchester around 3 times when I was living in Liverpool and always regreted not having spent more time in there. The guys of Not Now describe We let you down as 'a visual journey through the beauty and decay of the city of Manchester', and that's probably what I felt when I first visited Manchester, that same feeling I got when I moved to Glasgow 3 years ago.

We let you down is distributed free of charge around Manchester and the exhibition can still be visited at Cord bar.

You can follow Not Now on Facebook for future updates of their activities.

Thanks to Jon Hannan from OWT Creative for sending the zine.

Sunday Zine Review #22: Circulación #2

Circulación is a collaborative project between 8 photographers, each of them edits a selection of the work from the other photographers, and therefore its name (Circulation) refers to the whole editing process.

Martina Maffini is one of these photographers, she sent me a copy of the second issue of this interesting project (thanks a lot). The other photographers are Paula Barbetti, Leandro Ibarra, Leticia Lahitte, Soledad Manrique, Amapola Sebastiani, Victoria Onassis and Tomás Ruiz. Plus one guest photographer in each new issue.

Circulación #2 is a great selection of photographs. The way the photographs have been laid out gives this zine/photo book a really personal feeling. They look like memories from a holiday with their loved ones, that have been collected and put into a photo album.

I love how portraits and landscapes work so well together in the pages of this publication, and would love to hear about the story behind each of the photos.

Apart from an amazing selection of images, the paper quality and the format (17x24cm) make this small book unique.

Each issue is a limited edition of 500 copies, you can find Circulación in the following bookshops or you can also get yours by sending an email to circulacion.fotografias@gmail.com
