Sunday Zine Review #74: Sunday Mornings at the River 01

I love every zine I receive, but from time to time you get in your mailbox something that feels really special. This is the case of Zine 01 by Sunday Mornings at the River, a publishing/editorial project started by Rebecca Rijsdijk and Sanne Poppeliers in order to promote great work at affordable prices.

When I started flicking through the pages of this little book, I felt in love with the selection of photographs. They reminded me of some of my own work and also of one of my favourite spots in my hometown, a forest that I try to visit every time I go back to Spain.

It was also nice to see some familiar names like Katherine Squier, Jeff Luker and Roberto Rubalcava, and discover the amazing work of some photographers I hadn't heard about.

Sunday Mornings at the River's manifesto reads:

"We're daydreamers and think this is the aspect most reflected in the work we chose to publish. The photographers selected for our zine are people who take their cameras with them on the road and into the mountains. They are escapists, travellers, lovers."

For those of us who don't have the chance of escaping into the mountains as often as we'd like to, Sunday Mornings at the River is a great way to travel from our own house, covered with a blanket and enjoying a cup of tea.

If you also want to travel to all these forests and mountains, you can purchase Zine 01 by Sunday Mornings at the River at their online shop.

Girls on Film 12

Last Monday I released the new issue of Girls on Film. When I realized this was the 12th issue, it was quite shocking! I started this project in March 2011 not knowing where it was gonna go and I have already published 12 Girls on Film and 6 Boys on Film.

I really hope you enjoy this issue. If you want to find out more about the zine or submit your work head to Girls on Film website.

Sunday Zine Review #07: Synchrodogs by Atem Books

When I went back home for spending Christmas in Spain I checked my mailbox and had this nice little book, Emma and María from Atem Books had sent it to me.

Synchrodogs are a photographers couple (Tania & Roman) from Ukraine, they have become pretty huge during 2011 and they were the cover of Girls on Film 03. If you haven't seen their work before then I would strongly recommend to check their site as I'm sure they won't stop doing things during this new year.

The book is a collection of their first works, Tania is the main subject in most of the images, where she can be found making the weirdest poses in non conventional locations. I love the selection of photographs and the graphic layout really adds to the aesthetics of Synchrodogs. If you got some money during this Christmas I suggest to invest it on the book as I'm sure they will sell out pretty soon!

Also check Atem Book's site for taking a look at more books and zines, the work that Emma and María are making with this independent publishing house is amazing!

Girls on Film 07

After almost two months here's the new issue of Girls on Film. As I always say everytime I post about it in this blog, thanks to everyone! This month I received so many submissions that I had to save some of the photos for the next issue! Keep them coming!

If you want to find out more about the zine head to the blog, where you'll find all the details about submissions and info on how to purchase a printed copy of Boys on Film 03. The printed version of this issue should be available in about a couple of weeks!
